Class Styles


BEGINNING YOGA

Every class taught at Heaven on Earth Yoga is very easy to follow. The general rule is: When you can get up  in the morning and go about a normal day, you can do yoga. The yoga we teach is done in a gentle way. Most people who come for the first time feel comfortable finishing the class. Occassionally, we offer a beginner class or series, but you don't need to wait for that class if you like to explore Contemplative practice yoga. Regular classes are 90 minutes.

DEEPER YOGA

For more advanced students who are familiar with poses, the teachers will use some deeper elements in the class. That can be different variations or deeper adjustments. This also depends on the training the teacher has had. Although all our teachers are well trained, some have more extensive training than others. When students come to class, they let me know if there is anything bothering them on that day.  Marianne tries to address that in class and create the lesson plan accordingly. Each class is a different experience, it also depends on if the student is open minded. Yoga really is for the mind. When we can calm the mind and be open to all possibilities, you may surprise yourself and notice the changes happening. Deeper classes can go a little longer than 90 min.

YOGA and back issues

Every class we teach is designed to open the spine from the tailbone up. With that in mind, no matter what poses we are doing or focusing on, whether it's back bends, standing, inversions or twists, every class has the same focus: To open the spine from the tailbone up. Depending in which order the poses are done, that creates the best benefits. Occasionally, we may have a workshop focusing on back problems. Here we are able to explore a little more what may be causing these issues. By sharing this information with the class, everyone benefits.

Bliss classes and workshops

The special classes are a 2-3 hour class. The poses are held longer, reaching deeper into the layers of the tight muscles. This allows the relationship of body-mind-spirit to become more profound. When we are in harmony we feel great and more whole. The more we can quiet the mind, the more bliss we can create for ourselves. Bliss class is offered a few times a year.

The workshops address a special focus, like working on flexibility, creating a home practice, inversions, strength and stamina. They are held sometimes during the year

Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is a private session designed for your personal needs. Through poses, alignments and easy adjustments you are able to achieve a deeper state of awareness and relaxation. This allows the body to tap into its own healing power. Yoga therapy is helpful for any body. It works well on its own or in combination with your yoga class. When you are hurting or have some physical challenges, try to make an appointment for yourself and see how amazing a treatment can change the way you feel. Life is to short to live in a body that does not feel comfortable. Yoga Therapy takes about 60 minutes.
